USDOL Highlights ERISA
Per the notice below, the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) is highlighting the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) on its 50th anniversary of becoming a law.
50 years of protecting America’s retirement savings and more
Signed in September 1974, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) was designed to protect the interests of employee benefit plan participants and their beneficiaries and has evolved to meet the changing retirement and healthcare needs of workers and their families. Fifty years later, the USDOL Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is still helping workers, retirees, fiduciaries, and their families – and vigorously enforcing the law. In fact, just last year, EBSA recovered $1.4 billion in direct payments to plans, participants, and beneficiaries.
